June 19: My beloved is mine

Spurgeon: June 19, Evening

“My Beloved is mine, and I am His: He feedeth among the lilies. Until the day break, and the shadows flee away, turn, my Beloved, and be Thou like a roe or a young hart upon the mountains of Bether.” — Sng 2:16, 17

Can you imagine what it’s gonna be like seeing Jesus face to face? To enter into paradise and see our heavenly Father? To know that all of our sorrows and tears, shame and weaknesses are forever behind us?

“No” you say. “I know it’s real but I can’t imagine such a thing.”

Well, brother and sister, try!

Even our very dearest and closest times of joy and communion with the Lord will pale in comparison with the actual consummation. Maybe tonight, when the day is done, or during a calm in the day’s business, try and imagine that moment when you’ll first see Jesus! And know this, no matter how wonderful you may imagine it to be, it’ll be incomparably better when it actually happens!
