“So Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem: for he did eat continually at the king’s table; and was lame on both his feet.”
2 Samuel 9:13
There may be no better word to describe the state of the discouraged, defeated believer than the word “lame.”
How lame I feel when I’m weak — when my faith is drooping and I can’t even seem to bring my soul into God’s presence.
At times like these, it’s good to remember that it’s the grace of God that seats me at the banqueting table of Christ. I am always welcome into my Father’s presence because of Jesus’ blood and I am always accepted because of God’s love for me through Christ.
We feel the most lame so often when the grace of God is most willing to pick us up and embrace us.
