June 29: Chronicles 32:31

Spurgeon: June 29, Evening

“Howbeit, in the business of the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent unto him to enquire of the wonder that was done in the land, God left him, to try him, that He might know all that was in his heart.” — 2 Chronicles 32:31

God will never leave us, but He will occasionally leave us to ourselves. When His hand of divine grace and protection are lifted from us (even momentarily) the test of His work in our lives commences. Can that which He has built in us withstand the attacks of the enemy? What God has worked in us will stand all temptation and trial. That which is of our own strength and will crumbles like dry sand. Thus, our flesh is revealed, and the true work of God glorified in us. The humbler we are, the better the testing process goes. Pride above all else makes the testing process miserable.
