Spurgeon: June 16, Evening
“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” — Psalm 27:1
We require much persuasion and encouragement from the Almighty God to not fear, dread, or be anxious. How odd! We know our Lord rules and reigns over all powers of darkness and over all the circumstances that surround us. The root of our fear is not so much of evil and calamity as it is our doubts that the Almighty One is truly FOR us. The real plague we suffer from is our lack of trust in God. May His word and His promises be revealed to the depths of our hearts today and drive out the darkness of our fears and doubts.
