SPURGEON: APRIL 9 EVENING DEVOTION
The raw and awesome power of God is a terrifying thing, when we consider we are sinners and His enemies by nature. When we consider God’s gracious gentleness in His dealings with us, it’s enough to melt the heart with gratitude, and nearly faint in relief of His goodness. Has not God been gentle with us? Is not His heart tender towards us? Truly we have much to be grateful for, every moment of every day. What if He had chosen to be supremely just in His dealings with us, rather than supremely gentle? Lord Jesus, thank You today for Your love, gentleness, and grace towards us.
