It’s fascinating to read Spurgeon’s exhortative words to his readers, from so many years gone by: to feel the intensity, the imperativeness, the vulnerability, of the believer’s situation and predicament.
Do we not experience much the same? if not collectively, then personally? Why is there endless warfare against the believer? Because the Bible is true, and there is a real enemy of our souls. But note too, Spurgeon’s passionate plea to cling to Jesus, to look to Him for strength and victory, to trust in Him and not our own strength. The Lord has been leading believers in battle since the beginning. He can, and will, lead us to victory.
Lord, whatever battles we face today, You are the answer and victory. Lead us, Lord Jesus, in Thy paths of power and strength. Guide us, we ask, in Your Name.
